That Thunderhead monument is, at least based on the concept drawing, absolutely hideous, and not hideous in a thrilling way, but instead in the most boring, uninspired way possible. There are far cheaper ways of creating eyesores! I seriously wonder if much of modern public "art" is a way for officials to subconsciously express their disdain for the public and assert their dominance over the public, by making the public pay for and look at "art" that they know the public will hate.
